Log B’Omer fires

Jewish children are collecting wood to build a bonfire in preparation for the upcoming holiday of Log B'Omer. what is the meaning behind this custom?

Shalom,

Bonfire lights commemorate  the memorial of R.Shimon Bar Yohai who was responsible for maintaining the light of the Zohar and it’s secrets to maintain the soul of the torah in face of persecution.

So its a custom to light bonfires which represent the holy fire of the Zohar which he authored.
