How is turning on the water faucet on Shabbat different than turning on a light switch. You are completing a path in both cases.

I am puzzled at why we are allowed to turn on cold water faucet on Shabbat , which completes the path of water from main tank to my faucet. Just like a switch completes a path for current to flow from main source to your lamp. Furthermore, in most houses and buildings there is an electric pump that creates water pressure to deliver water to your house. So once you open the cold water faucet you lower the pressure in the line and at some point the electric pressure pump turns on and re-pressurizes the pipe system. It is the same concept as in the refrigerator. When you open the door the temperature goes down and and at some point the electrical compressor kicks in to cool the refrigerator. Thank you for any feedback or clarification.

Shalom,  The exact technology of your water system needs to be checked by a halachic authority. The use of electrics on Shabbos is definitely problematic however understanding that any electronic circuit be it intentional or  unintentional is not kosher for Shabbos. The key is knowing how to get the water system to not need electronic assistance  there are mostly Shabbat compliant refrigerators today because they cycle when the door is closed.  Opening them during the loud cycling sound is problematic on many models during Shabbat.   hope this clarifies the concept.
