Last Shabbat I was stuck last minute and really needed to get somewhere before Shabbat. I ended up walking for an hour and 45 minutes, but I just wanted to know for future reference. Am I allowed to have someone else driving me on Shabbat and i just join the ride?

Shalom Debby, You are not allowed to be driven on Shabbat by someone else even if it\'s a non Jew. You did the right thing by walking. Only in an emergency of life threatening situation we can have someone drive us and if it is not an ambulance that takes us to a hospital there are many rules how to do so. Wishing you great success Rabbi Alon Anava
