Question About Peyos

Esteemed Rav Alon Anava, i would like to know about Peyos and the Kabbalistic implication of them, or if they are mandatory for observant jews, cause in my community i feel pressure to do have them , without even me knowing what it means and wheter is mandatory to have them, they see it as a lack of commitment in avodat HaShem, but many orthodox rabbis don't have them, thats why i have that confusion, thanks.

Peyos are customarily seen in many but not all hasidic communities. They’re not mandatory but are highly valued in those communities.
