I am not Jewish, but I listen to your lectures. I enjoy them and thank you. My question concerns meditation. In many of the traditions that espouse meditation, the concept of praying is not included. I was wondering is there a concept of meditation in the Jewish tradition that excludes prayer or a reference to Hashem or the Torah? If so, could you point me to the source of that teaching? Would you say that prayer is a form of meditation which includes thoughts of God? Would you compare prayer to meditation with reference or focus on Hashem or the Torah? Or not at all? I am not entirely clear on the concept of prayer. Is the Jewish tradition of three daily prayers a recitation of the same words each day, or does it include something else? Thank you for your time. It is greatly appreciated.

Shalom,   An excellent read would be Aryeh Kaplan’s Jewish meditation as it explains and answers most questions regarding Jewish meditation    I would say that prayer is a form of meditation but one that is ordered to tune a persons reality to a more divine path.   Best Wishes    R.Yosef Karpman
