Bris Milah
Hi Rabbi Anava,
I'm a big follower of your lectures, they have inspired m tremendously.
My question is, is bris milah a traumatic ordeal for a baby to go through? Because I have been reading that such traumas such as separation from the mother for prolonged time, babies born prematurely, hard medical procedures, and circumcision causes trauma to a baby that affects him when he is older.
If so, why is it commanded in the Torah?
This is troubling me a lot.
Thanks,
Curious girl

Shalom,
Much research shows that it’s the person /surgeon / mohel that acts as a conduit for blessing for the parents and child that along with the sandak who is required to hold and meditate on the child’s blessing during the Brit.
Those who do the Brit according to Kabbalistic customs don’t have a negative track record and they’ve had many myriads of successful Brits completed. With no negative side effects.
hope this helps and for more information you can read the book Brit avraham.
