why is the right side of the face different to the left side of the face?

Shalom ,     We learn from the teachings of the Ari (R.Isaac Luria) that the study of physiognomy *face reading* is a unnecessary art as the light of the torah instructs and informs sages as to the nature of each person.   The section of the Zohar in Yitro will explain many concepts regarding your question and you can understand very simply that the right side represents the current life while the left side represents the previous challenges the soul had encountered.
