Hello Rabbi Anava:   I was in a Car accident in 2002 and began taking pain pills and sleeping pills. I have been able to stop the pain medication but I cannot stop taking the sleeping pills. My desire is there, and when I try hard I cannot sleep, my body won't shut down to rem.  Could you please help me with this issue.  I have been praying to the father, to show me what is the problem and to direct me. I was watching your video's and thought maybe you could help me.

Shalom, There is no doubt that you must get off the sleeping pills, but unfortunately since the need is physical I can't help much, especially from far away. On the spiritual side you need to continue praying, make sure you eat Kosher food, learn Torah, give Charity and pray the bed time Shma before you want to go to sleep. Once you see you can not fall asleep, say Shma Israel again. Once you increase all the above in your spiritual work, it should reduce a bit the need to the physical pill. Although in most cases doctors will not really help, you should seek a doctor that can help physically to find a way to wean you off the pills. May G-d help you to overcome your need, All the best, Alon
