My air conditioner broke on Shabbat, can I fix it?

Hello, last Shabbat my air conditioner broke during Shabbat, we live in south Florida so needless to say the heat was unbearable. Am I allowed to fix the air conditioner during Shabbat or have a non Jew fix it for me?

Shalom Elisha, Unfortuantly we are not allowed to fix an air conditioner during Shabbat or even ask a non Jew to do it. Only in a life threatening situations we are allowed to desecrate Shabbat in order to save a life, and asking a non Jew to do something for you on Shabbat has to be done the right way, as there are many rules in how to do so, cause just asking strait forward form a non Jew to do something is not allowed Rabbi Alon Anava
