Hi Rabbi, my grandfather was jewish, last name Levy Obadia and on that side of my family I have deep sephardic roots. However, my mother is not jewish nor did I had any jewish education. I am trying to re connect to my jewish roots, but my question is wether there is something somewhere that talks about patrilineal jewishness, and how people in this situation feel a jewish connection without being halachikally jews. And what to do about that feeling? Would a Rabbi make a conversion easier for these cases? Thanks, David Levy

Shalom,   The conversion criteria is the same for everyone regardless of patrilineal descent...   If you were looking for a conversion that would be internationally accepted and properly established it would be best to have an orthodox conversion which frankly can be a challenging process at times..   Best Wishes----   R.Yosef Karpman
