Esau & Ishmael

In Ma\'amar Ba\'ati L\'Gani 5733 (I4)it states that the Klipa of Yishmael tries to cool Jews off from Judaism and the Klipa of Esau tries to heat up their desires for worldly matters. What I don\'t understand is that based on observing world cultures Esau is usually associated with \"being cool\", the cool headed cultures of the Western civilization. Yismael is usually associated with being hot and passionate. This seems just the opposite from what the Ma\'amar is teaching. Plus, though Amalek has inroads into both Esau and Yishmael, still he\'s more directly associated with Esau and he\'s the one who \"cooled us off\" on the road. Please clarify. Thank you.

Shalom    Amalek includes both of them and is an all incompassing klipa . Frequently the view that esav is hesed while yishmael is gevura is perceived while actually it’s the opposite.   See that the quality of the internal dimension is what is being referred to.  The gevura of esav is manifest during the many crusades and persecutions enacted.  The historical record shows the relative hesed that the various yishmael empires had towards people living amongst them that weren’t in direct opposition to them.  Today is different since it’s amalek that is confused as being yishmael — torture etc...this isn’t a classical behavior of yishmael rather a manifestation of amalek cruelty.   I hope this clarifies the idea.   R.Yosef Karpman
